Yo, Check Out These Rad OG Pebble Faces

Hey, all. John here. I met up with MiniMac today and we decided that it was time to make a new post, so here goes. These are some of the best Pebble faces for original Pebbles/Steels, but also can be used on some of the later models. Also, these are some of the more obscure faces out there, since I think we all know the famous ones pretty well. Anyway, let’s get into it! Laptopman Face 2.0 To be clear, I actually made this face myself, so I might be a bit biased when calling this one of the best Pebble faces. Then again, this is 50% my blog so I can do what I want! Anyway, with this face, you get the rather neat Laptopman character who proudly displays the time and battery level. It’s really cool. Check it out Circle-5-MOD remix This is easily one of the coolest Pebble faces available, at least for monochrome Pebbles. It has several dials that are sophisticated but still very readable. This one is easily one of my favorites, and it’s surprising it’s not more popular. Check it out Slide...

Pebble Steel in 2022 - Still Worth It?

Hey, everyone! After going on hiatus for quite a while, we Pebble Pariahs have rediscovered our appreciation and love for these geeky little gadgets. So, to celebrate our return, John shares his thoughts on using a Pebble Steel in 2022. When my last Pebble Steel finally broke due to the seller’s failed repair attempt, I was extremely disappointed. It was by far my favorite Pebble ever made and for good reason. It offered an awesome and super premium design for less money used than even the standard Pebble Time. However, a year has passed, and some very significant changes have taken place. For the whole hardware and software overview, I recommend  reading last year’s post . To summarize, though, the Pebble Steel still offers an epic experience with Rebble Web Services. Everything works great, so long as you have the Pebble app sideloaded, something difficult but doable on iOS devices these days. On the hardware side of things, this watch is much better than its predecessor and the ...

Signing Off

Hi, everyone! It’s the Pebble Pariahs, and we’re here to share some sad but perhaps unsurprising news. Essentially, this blog is going on hiatus indefinitely. There are many factors that have led to this, including failing devices, limited spare time, and those pesky narwhals in our basements. In all seriousness, though, we Pebble Pariahs are simply no longer able to keep this project going at the moment. While it is unlikely that this will happen in the foreseeable future, there is a chance that we may bring this back someday. We will still be around elsewhere, so consider this our signing off rather than our end. We would like to thank all of you for reading our posts, and we hope we’ve been able to help you on your Pebble journey. We’ll certainly continue to rock our Pebbles from time to time, and we hope you will, too!

Pebble App – No Longer Available for iOS Users

Hi, John here. As you may have heard by now, the Pebble app is unfortunately no longer available for iOS devices. If you previously downloaded it, you might still be able to do so via the purchases list in the App Store, but there’s a good chance that this will not work. I tried installing the old Pebble app from my purchases, and I got the error below: I wasn’t able to test this with the newer Pebble app, as I didn’t want to risk uninstalling it and not being able to get it back. However, I’d say there’s a good chance this error will appear when downloading it from your purchases, too. The Solution? If you no longer have the app installed and want to get it back, you may have a few options. Firstly, you can sideload a backup of the Pebble app’s IPA file if you are willing to take the security risk and enable your iPhone to do so. However, this is hardly ideal and likely more trouble than it’s worth for most people. Alternatively, we Pebble Pariahs recommend simply waiting for an alter...

Using the Pebble Time in 2021 - An Acquired Taste, but Also a Good One

I have literally and figuratively been on a rollercoaster ride with my Pebble Time. The former is true because it accompanied me on the "Giant Dipper" coaster at the beach in Santa Cruz, but the latter is a bit more complicated than that. You see, I went from being very enthusiastic about the Time to being somewhat underwhelmed by it, and then coming to love it after having it on my wrist for a while. So, in a way, my thoughts and feelings regarding the Time fluctuated and kind of went on a rollercoaster ride, soaring up at the beginning, plummetting, and finally evening out. Fancy writing aside, my point is that after using it for a while, I really like this watch, despite it's quirks and several shortcomings. Is the Pebble Time for you, though? Let's find out in the much-delayed Pebble Pariahs' review! Design I like to start these reviews with design impressions, as it's the first thing you really experience with a Pebble. While some may not care...

Pebble Steel in 2021 - One "Steel" of a Deal

There was a time when I dismissed the Pebble Steel as an original Pebble with a suit and tie. However, all it took was an enticing offer on eBay and a few days of daily driving it to realize that there's much more than to the Steel than its looks. In fact, it might just be an amazing deal for those looking for a basic but very attractive smartwatch on a budget! That is, as long as you are not particularly concerned about fitness tracking. So, is the Pebble Steel for you? Let's find out! Design Before we begin, I feel that it is important to clarify that this is technically more or less an original Pebble in a sleeker case. The only truly new feature besides the updated exterior is an RGB notification LED that seems to only be used as a charging status light. As for the hardware redesign, it truly is very impressive. Gone are the rounded corners, replaced with sharper edges. This gives the watch a boxier look, and one we Pebble Pariahs quite like! The sam...
